Well, I don't know... I'll have to get a pic of the durso for you to tell me what you think. It's already got holes drilled in it... I'm actually not sure if there should be this many in it, to be honest. I'll try to get a pic of it tomorrow. I may have to build another one, and get a MAG 7. I'll just use the MAG 9.5 as a back up, or something.

I'll check out the black vinyl thing, too.

Well, my computer's still down at home, so I can't post pics of where I'm at with the tank, yet. All I've done is paint the stand with Kilz, though.

I'll post up a pic of the durso I have. I don't think it will work. It has too many holes in it, from all the research I've done on it. But, I'll let you guys help me decide. All I know is that it sounds very "throaty" right now.

I do have a question about flow. I'm not going to do a CL because I think it's too much for right now. What I'd like to do is set it up with some Koralias. What do you guys recommend for this tank? I was thinking 2 K4's... ???

Thanks!

Here's how the tank looks as of now...

I rolled some black paint on the back(s) and sealed the stand. My plan is to add a removable skin on the front of it, after I get my lighting and plumbing all figured out.

This is kind-of what I have in mind... only not as nice (I'm not "that" good) :)

Any way... that's a long ways away from the point I'm at, right now. I've got to get some substrate and some powerheads now...

Dude definitely has mad skillz! If I can make mine anywhere near what his looks like, I'll be pretty happy.

However, if it doesn't work out, my wife thought it was a neat idea to get me one of these for our anniversary.

If we were to go that route, I'd be spending quite a bit of money. I'd rather mess up on what I'm trying to do, first. :)

Okay guys... gotta question...

On my return, the part where the pipe coming from the actual tank, goes into the elbow/union that leads to the next pipe... does that have to be glued? I glued the rest of the pipe, but didn't know if it safe to glue the one coming right from the pipe that comes out from the bottom of the tank... I guess my main concern is future maintenance. You know, in case I have to remove the whole thing. Is it that critical, or will it leak like heck?

Thanks!

IMO, it is not under pressure, as it is gravity fed from overflow area, and not succeptible to tank volume pressures, i would first attempt to pressure fit (no glue) first, see if you can get away with this only. end of the day, if you ever want to remove and redo plumbing, you have the option.

i did this on my 90g, no problems.

Looking good!
How long did you cycle the tank before adding the fishies?
Any more progress on the stand?

Man... I guess it was a week and a half to two weeks.

Basically, I mixed up some RO/DI with some salt, put it in the tank, added my live rock, added some dead krill, then threw the damsels in there a few days ago. My other tank started getting nasty so I moved the puffers over. They seem ah-ight. I'm using cheapo test strips and I need to get a better test kit for sure, but my numbers looked good. I didn't get any algae breakouts because my lighting sucks right now. I'm wet skimming because I don't think that my skimmer can do anything else but wet-skim. LOL

I'm really taking this slow (as you can tell). My next orders of business are as follows:

1. substrate and more LR
2. better skimmer and flow
3. redo sump
4. figure out lighting
5. build canopy
6. skin the stand

I don't know too much about corals so I'll take that one slow. I do know that I want to be SPS dominant (if I can hack it) for the most part.

Oh, and I want an anemone or two, too. I know, right. I dream small...

Figured I'd show my lame attempt at a FTS:

I got a CSS 220 from Chuck for a cheap price because he upgraded to a Bubble Magus. I've had nothing but problems with it since I got it. First, it was leaking at the collection cup. I tried to fix it, but my wife accidentally knocked it over and cracked it. So, I used another cup that I had for my CSS 65 that was sitting in the garage. I just couldn't get this thing to make any bubbles!

I finally decided to try to do the fishline mod to the needlewheel. Now, it makes some pretty nice bubbles! That should tie me over for a few months.

Here's how my tank sits now. I have a torch, hammer, GSP, about 120lbs of LR, 100lbs of LS, 2 K4's, a modded MJ (that is way too loud), an Aqua-C EV skimmer, 2 clowns, a yellow tang, a great CUC, 2 cleaner shimp, and coralline starting to show up all over the place. :) I just build the canopy... right now it houses one 250w MH and 2 PCs. I plan on putting some retro T5's in there soon, as well as a couple fans to cool it.

I'm really happy with the tank and I'm already planning a remote sump for it. I still haven't closed up the stand, but will do so soon.
