i have thought about putting in a coral pond. it would be in a sun room not outdoors. with air vents in the room and at least 2 chillers on it. i want to use aragonite in the bottom. i am not sure if it will work and i would welcome any ideas for it. i will probably put in mirrors all around it to keep light on the tank continuosly. its just an idea. and any help would be appreciated.

i think i would use 2 50g refugiums for it. i know it would have lots of inverts in it and maybe a few fish. and probly would have 4 or 5 high power PH on it. it would be about 3 foot deep and around 4 or 5 feet in diameter.

I don't really have any advice to offer, I just want to say that I love the concept. At my previous house, we had the tank setup right by the stairs, and I used to stand at the top of the stairs and look down into it, and it was such an awesome perspective.

When I build my dream house some day (you know, the one with about 5-6 tanks built into the walls, all plumbed together into an enormous fish room :D ), I want to have a tank like you are describing.

is there going to be a viewing window so you can see the corals and fish or is it just going to be from the top of the water.

Sounds like a very cool idea. I saw some TV show where the house must of been in the islands somewhere, when you walked into the house it was all open, like walls that rolled back or something. The cool thing was a fish type tank that when you walked into the house you were looking down into the fish tank. Lots of fish, lots of swimming room. Then you could walk down into a lower room and there you were eye level.

I think the fish system even meandered around the outside of the house.

i was probly going to put it in the ground. so no vewing window unless i figure out how to extend it up above ground. it would be designed to put frags and other small corals in and get them to grow somewhat fast.
