So Ive had my nano set up for a lil over 9 months now and Ive been looking to upgrade that tank to something a lil bigger perhaps. I favor more in the cube style tanks so I was thinking a 70 cube (30x30x18) and buy apollo LEDs. Talked to him and he said he could custom make me a fixture for a really good deal. using the same 20 gallon sump I have on the nano and generally just moving everything from my 15 nano to the 70 cube. now that aside I was also looking to do a bigger reef tank (36x36x18) because it's been killing me to get a kole tang especially the white tail kole tang and a golden dwarf moray with a few other cool fish. Now my problem isn't lighting it's more or less filtration. I'm looking to do lps and softies in this tank and perhaps some easy sps but, because I have LEDS I might just get whatever I can find. what size sump/fuge, skimmer, return pump and powerheads should I get? same thing for the 70 cube for the return, skimmer and powerheads.

Awesome move, bigger is better!
Lets see some pics from the Nano, :TTIWWOP:
On your cube and bigger tank we have a golden rule, what ever fits your budget.
On the skimmer I would say the biggest skimmer that fits your sump.
Powerheads I would go with Vortech or Tunze, they are proven one of the best.
Return pump, is a bit complicated. There are so many out there, I like a few but on the moment I run a Danner 12.
Keep us updated on the build and btw start a build threat.
In that case you'll get a lot of info from us Marshians.

The nano is in the nano and pico section. The same sump I'll be using I the 70 cube in the future. I may even up the size to a 48x48x18 because I don't think the extra 6" will look appealing to my eye. Having one tank almost identical as the other meh.

The 48x48x18 will be an uped size on the 36 cube. Still debating on what size to go with on both cubes because I do want a small manageable tank in my room being either a 24x24x18 or 30x30x18. For the larger display tank of the living room it's either 36x36x18 or 48x48x18

If you are a Petco Pals cardholder you can get in on the "$1 a gallon" sale until July 21st. I just picked up a 40 breeder for...yup, you guessed it $40.

I don't have a cube by ant stretch of the imagination but I have a deep dimension tank(60x36x18). I love the depth of the tank...so awesome. I'd like to have something 48" deep.

I've always enjoyed cube tanks and had one I was going to set up before I set up nano. It was a 24x24x10 I believe from fish farm. I managed to take off the glass piece and got it to where I had it set up almost ready to run then disaster struck my house. Family came over and my lil cousin shattered it :( haven't gone back to get another but I might now that I remember they have them.

10 is a bit short for me. My 18 is cutting it too close. IMO 22 and 24 are probably the best heights for tanks

20 is more like it but I figured the extra 2" won't matter if I go 18 and still get away with the LEDs I get from apollo

I'm going to be selling my current 70 in a few weeks. Tank, stand, sump, pump, plumbing, light (MH, not the Radion in the pic), controller, skimmer - everything but MP40, radion, livestock, sand and rocks. it's 36w x 18d x 24h.

Probably around 800, it's all less then a year old except for the tank. Reef octopus skimmer, Rio pump, Reef Keeper Light with Temp and PH probes (I need to flash it though, it's acting up). You can swing by and take a look at it if you want. I'm off Louetta and Stubner Airline.
