A mystery coral..........WTH? (1 Viewer)

Has anyone else had this happen?

We've had this ora tri-color valida for 3 years. The first sps in the tank. The only one ordered through mail.It has been through hell. 2 or 3 rounds of AEFW'S and 2 tank crashes. The AEFW'S were the worst. It was mostly skeleton at one point. It has regrown over the original skeleton, so it looks like a blob.

On the back it looks like a different piece of coral as started to grow. I guess another piece of coral was touching the skeleton for a while.
This had to have happened over a year ago. Wow. Tough coral. It's been through AEFW'S and a tank crash where I lost about 15 great sps corals and 4 lps.
I'm going to frag and see what it grows into. I'm excited.

Do you have Poccillophora in the tank?
They do look like this and spread all over a tank ...................

I have one. I was fragging some yumas outside the tank and it broke off and shattered. The only piece left is what was encrusted in the rock. They have never been by each other and they look different.

Yes I have one but this was there before that also. When I frag it I'll take a better pic.
