I just got a new acan (thanks soymilk), never had one before so this might be a silly question. Does it need a rock to grow onto or will it form its own "base" and I can leave it on the sandbed?
Hi, Travis.
I've got 2 acans and they're mounted on the rockwork, but I think you can just as much success with them on the sand bed. There's a guy on the Louisiana board that has a lot of them on the sand. Check out the pics here
I've read, IIRC, the main thing is to place them on a flat surface if you want them to stay in the standard flat plate formation. I keep mine in the sand as well, otherwise my light bleaches them.
Thanks guys. Mostly sps here outside of a frogspawn and a galaxia, clams, favia, zoas, palys, chalice, oh damn guess its a mixed reef. Regardless never had an acan before so appreciate the input.
