I am maintaning a 55 gallon tank and the current residents are 1 Blue tang, 1 clown fish (yeah, see the Nemo thing here) 1 lawnmower blenny and 1 bicolor angel. They want to add another fish or two. I was thinking something with a lot of movement and color like some wrasses or firefish. I have already informed them that the blue tang will eventually outgrow the tank and another home will have to be found but that's not for awhile. Any suggestions on tankmates?

royal grammas usually hide in caves. i had 2 and both would just hang out in the back of my 55 then later on one died, or i guess they fought, and the surviving one began to come out to the front everyday.

it took him about 2 months to come out of his cave :)

he looks great though his purple and yellow are very bright and he's as fat and round as a little smokey sausage.

My RG was very shy for 2-3 months, and is still a little skittish, but he's definitely out more now. All the dottybacks are cool, but if you go with one, you can only have one of them, and it needs to be added as the last fish in the tank. I finally had to trap out my neon dottyback because it attacked nearly everything I put in after it, even if it didn't have a similar color/shape.

Our royal gramma was hiding, but if you like the color the orchid dottyback (fridmani) is the way to go. Ours stays out in the open all the time and isn't at all aggressive. We got a tank raised one from Scott at Village Tropical.

Yes, an orchid dottyback is an excellent choice. A midas blenny would be great too, but I've been having a hard time finding one.

I have both Royal Gramma and Black Cap Basslet, and neither one hides. I got mine also from Scott at village tropical. If you want a get wrasse, then go to www.themarinecenter.com pick out a reef safe wrasse, and let Scott order one for you. He can quarantine the fish for you. I have 5 wrasses in my tank, and by far they are my favorite.

Lineatus, mystery, possum, leopard, and rubiventrilis

ive helped my uncle pick fish for his 135 gallon fish only tank that is 10 years old all the time and he's had up to 10 different angels at a time.

a method he used and i learned about is just buy the angel you want to add a little bit bigger than the other(s), make sure he is healthy enough to defend himself.

or if they are meaner. like i had a venustus angel (not meaner, just bigger) and i put it in when i had my flameback in my 55 for 4 months, flameback was scared of him.

and when i added a flame after that, the flameback chased the flame, but the flame fought back and eventually the double aggression cancelled itself out.

thats just what my experiences with angels. if you're worried you can add eggcrate to block off one section for a month or too, isolate the fish.

This is a display tank in the middle of an office on the part of the A&M Campus, eggcrate wouldn't fly with the owner since the tank is seen by so many people.
