Advice on 13K or 14K 250w MH bulbs (1 Viewer)

Does anyone have experiece with 13K or 14K MH bulbs? Someone told me that with these bulbs, actinic supplementation won't be necessary. Is this true?

The bulb brands will vary as well as your personal preference. I personally like the actinic only part of my photo period so I run actinic supplementation. I would say check around for people using the type of bulb you are interested in and then go see for yourself if you like the color etc.

In general would 13K MH plus 2 110w actinic VHOs supplements be too blue in color?

Really have to answer some questions first.

What Wattage, and is it SE (mongul, single ended) or DE (double ended)?

The MegaChromes are very bright in those ranges.
The AquaConnect are more blue than most.

Hello Nathan,

The subject stated 250watt but it's SE. I'm not sure what brand of bulb. Buyer told me it was OE that comes with the kit(all brand new) and that its crisp color. I know there will be differences in brand, etc which will be a factor in color rendition but i'm trying to find general answers maybe of those that do have those color 13K or 14K bulbs.

Well I could give you links from RC that show some of these, the AC 14K(AquaConnect is so blue some say you don't need Actinics except for dusk and dawn.)

Hope this helps, I have a 150W DE and my colors are a lot different than the 250W SE.
