I had seen my African Flameback Angelfish picking on my LPS, the brains, the Acans. I figured I could do without some of the LPS and would give them to new homes to save them.

Then yesterday I noticed my favorite birdsnest, the lime green one w/ purple polyps, looked to be dying back on one side ... immediate water tests ... everything is fine? Do three once-weekly sized water changes anyway.

Then I saw the *$#%^*+ angel EATING the SPS. Yeah, I knew it was possible when I got the fish, but these are supposed to be among the safest angels from what I've read ... but to see the little &#%@^* eating the coral we dote upon ... talk about displeased.

Anyone want an coral eating angel?

I am sure it will. Mine graduated pretty quickly it seems.

I am looking into DIY trap ideas. I will probably try the soda bottle one tomorrow.

will be doing the same here. I usually feed using the fish net to disperse the food around. All my fish are not scared of the net but the coral beauty usually stays farther away waiting for the food to get to it. so will be making some kind of trap in hopes to trap it soon.

Good Luck, Net won't work for sure.

My yellow tang would go in a trap easy, but I made hole too big. Cut the actual top of the bottle, then cut at the point the bottle starts to flatten, flip it inwards, and maybe punch holes around the edge in a few spots then zip tie together.

I used a small drinking bottle with the ribs to catch all my Peps, easier since you just turn it inwards and the ribs will hold it together.

If you need a trap stop by my store I will loan you one.

Dennis, I'll see you tomorrow then. I am going out of town for 2 weeks on Saturday & want this fish out of the tank before I go.

I have a beauty that has left my coral alone, so far. I feed her twice a day and she still acts as if she hadn't ate in a month, were you keeping a tight feeding schedule?

I also was told and didn't believe it until I saw it they like a "variety". I feed brine, 2 diff brands of algae(supposed to be diff flavors) mysis and worms and I switch it around randomly. 5ccs in the morning and 5 cc's for dinner and she seems rather happy.

These guys are VERY hungry from what I've seen and they may not always want to but will find a food source.

Mine has been in my tank about a month now, I added the xenia last week and I figured it there would be any she would pick on that would be it but nothing so far, that xenia is as happy as it can be :)

...hope I didn't jinx myself, they seem to be a real hit and miss too, I have a friend that has a flame angel in his 150 and that angel has been there 2+ years is only fed every other day and lives off the algae growth/pods in the tank.

How did you get $35 credit for a coral beauty from all about fish? I never get anything that high when I try to sell back any fish there...

I have had the coral beauty for about 2yrs now. I've added some sps frags recently and has been spotted nipping. It used to not do it before but I guess it got the taste for it now. Feed everyday sheet of nori and brine an mysis shrimp and it eats basically everything I drop in there

Guess it has a lot to do with the fish.

I first gave him a Cow Fish and only got $5 since it was Poisonous, etc.
$35 for the 3" Coral Beauty, healthy.
and $5 for a fist size Pumpkin Urchin. He said Urchin was way too big for what people want.

My coral beauty waited many months before it decided to taste some coral. Within a month of the first taste it had most of my coral angry or dead.

I too had to pull all rock to catch it. Smart fish. I still hate him to this day.

And I was just about to buy a Coral Beauty...not now. What about a Flame for the reef?

Coral Beauty is ok, with Flame you are taking a chance.

You will have abtter chance with a coral beauty then a flame. You just don't know if they're gonna nip or not
