Obviously most of us have heard Snorkel Bob's rant. Well now another organization is attacking our great hobby and we've got to unite and tell them what we think.

I recently wrote about the organization ForTheFishes.org, a group that vilifies the aquarium industry and completely ignores all of the good things derived from it. They have actually commented on the article, and we're currently going back and forth on the topic, though I hardly believe I'll convince them of anything.

I will admit that we need to clean up this hobby. Bad companies need to be avoided and we need to do a better job at taking care of our livestock.

Everyone's thoughts on the subject?

You should also check out Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's (as seen on Animal Planet's Whale Wars) website for a not so friendly toward us article.

You know what side I am on, but we all want a piece of our beloved ocean in our homes, and along with that comes a lot of responsibility. When I read those articles, I just try to take away ideas on how I can be a good stuart of the oceans. No point in arguing with them!

Not much that needs to be said. In one ear and out the other with these kind of kooks. I think the best remedy for the eco-nuts is simply to ignore them. Nobody listens to what they have to say.

There definitely has to be good logical rebuttals when they spew this garbage because every misinformed do gooder will jump on the band wagon with them. Unfortunately I think is just a sign of the times we live in. Logic is pretty much thrown out with the bath water.

BTW good rebuttal to their article Brandon!

thanks steve, i tried to use their own numbers against them. but like you said, they toss the logic out when talking about this. and who really makes the claim that the aquarium industry is what's killing divers? why not put the responsibility back on the diver himself? if they aren't trained to dive properly, then don't dive. and why would they care about the diver anyhow? they are the ones collecting all the fish.

Steve is right, people these days are sheep. They listen to the corporate controlled media's BS/scare tactics. Not to mention that most people these days base their opinions on what someone else told them rather than doing their own research and forming their own opinion.

I appreciate you speaking up Brandon. Hopefully you will actually reach some people and make them do a bit of thinking.
