I have been doing my homework on calcium reactors and doing comparisons between a DaStaco and Pacific Sun.

Not deeding a PH probe and/or a separate monitoring device to check alk level is a huge plus and the size is also a very attractive plus for the Pacific Sun since it fits under a stand. I wonder if anyone owns or had had any experience with this brand that can share your experience and thoughts?

I have only known one person who had the pac sun and I think he is out of the hobby now. I was curious about it also but I am almost positive I am going dastaco once they do Black Friday sale and I can get 10-15% off. Thankfully my stand is 42” tall so fitting the A-3 under the tank won’t be an issue. The other one I am thinking about is the deltec twin tech auto calcium reactor but can’t find a US distributor for it

Yes. I can't fin any new insight on it except when they released the Pro version back in 2016, which by then DaStaCo had already earned their reputation.
Sadly, I had to go with a 36" tall stand, and it is still OK for viewing height but a total pain for equipment. I can fit an A-2 under it, but it is not rated for the size of my tank.

I am positive I read somewhere that DaStaCo reactors are underrated and I "should" be OK with it. A while ago I called Unique Corals and the person I spoke to couldn't give me a definitive answer on that either. I can't join the FaceBook support page to ask the developer as I need a serial number to join. :(

I have space behind the tank and wonder if it that would be a good place or if I should really push to fit one under the stand.

I have no experience with the Pacific Sun but have the Dastaco A-4 and I am a fan. I have had 4 different CaRXs over the years and I really appreciate what Dastaco did with their unit. While I was just as successful with my last CaRX, having the Dastaco with all its bells and whistles and only one adjustment knob (up means more supplementation, down means less), is enjoyable to run. Maintenance seems pretty easy too for the most part and refilling as well.

Steve:

Main concern between say a DaStaCo A2 (Rated up to 300 gallon) versus an A4 (Rated up to 525 gallon) is two folded:

1) A2's footprint will wit under my stand / cabinet. Also, being that it may take years it will take years to populate and fully grow acro in this tank, I may have to use it at the lowest setting. I have read tanks up to 800 gallons running an A2!

2) A4 will not fit under my stand. I fear that even at lowest setting it may be too much for the tank.

As per my conversation with Unique Corals - "The unit will run best and in the sweet spot if in the 2-10 range on the alk dial"

Yes, considering Geo and DaStaCo at this point.

Geo has everything you need and nothing you don’t. Simple to run.

Vertex is better built and thought out IMO and Probably less bubbles, but not nearly as simple when you look at it and if you’re a newbie with a reactor it might be a little confusing. GEO is more plug and play.

If I ever bought another reactor it would be another GEO or Vertex. I’m not sure how big Vertex makes reactors which is why I think a lot of people go with the bigger GEO’s.

+1 on the geo. I wish I had the newer model with relocated fees lines, less bubbles, but it’s still been great. I have a master flex pushing mine but I bet the versa pump would work just fine as well. Master flex is super adjustable though.

Vertex went out of business a little over a year ago. I have been doing more research and further inclined to DaStaCo later on.

I love my DaStaCO. I have been running about 2 years and has been a great investment. Easy to setup and tune. As farmerTY said it is easy to adjust.
