I found a place with blow out deals on 12,000K, 10,000K and 460NM bulbs by Current, TrueLumen (Powerwhite and Actinic blue) and Wavepoint (Sun Wave and Superblue bulbs). Has anyone used these bulbs before? Comments? I'm using my dual 150w MH fixture as my main lighting source in my new 120, and plan to use a mixture of 4 other T5HO bulbs as supplements. It was recommended that I use 3 actinic and maybe one daylight, any other suggestions? I was also thinking about staggering the on and off times of the bulbs too. But mainly I'm just curious about the bulbs. At the price I can't go wrong, but just wanted some opinions.

Thanks,

Thomas

Really depends on what color halide lamp you're going to run. If you run a whiter color, you will probably want to supplement your halides with the superblue (would be my choice). If you are running a 20k or similar halide, you don't really need to supplement per se. In this case, I'm guessing that you're really just looking to add some dawn/dusk lighting. I would run pure actinic bulbs for dawn/dusk as it should give you the best "pop" from your corals.

I just got some new JBJ Viper 14,000K bulbs for my MH fixture, so I guess I'll get the Superblue and a white. The ones I listed are the only bulbs they have because the bulbs are take outs from new fixtures that they changed from saltwater to freshwater fixtures.

Mary, I sent you a PM with info.

The superblues are pretty nice. I used them for a while. But they seemed a bit dim to me, compared to some other brands.

It would boil down to how much the bulbs cost though.

$4-$6 each for 24", 36" and 48". I figure I can't go wrong at that price.
