Wanting to see anyone is still using one of these and if you are, are you still using the stock sicce psk-2500 pump?

I hate it. Every time it stops, getting it started again is a nightmare and today I busted the tube for the airline on the volute while jacking with it.

Trying to figure out
  1. a good "easy" replacement pump for it,
  2. or switch to a venturi but what size??,
  3. or maybe just time to chuck it and get a new skimmer.

I don't know how big it is, but I'd love some round acrylic to play with. I've been wanting to 3D print some parts for a home-made skimmer, but I want a clear body and DAMN is acrylic tube expensive.

edit: Darn, it's big. I don't think it'd fit in my sump's skimmer chamber even with the base removed.

I have SWC Mini Cone S skimmer before and you will love it with Bubble Blaster 3000-HY pump. Of course, you have to modify the pump output to fit the skimmer input and the dock for the skimmer (I used egg crate), but it was way better than PSK-2500 or PSK-100 or any other pumps. A lot of microbubbles and you easy to do dry or wet skim mate.

What do you mean by dock? raise the skimmer body up?

The Bubble Blaster pump's body is higher than the skimmer leg, I have to make the hole in the middle of the dock. If your water level already fits with your skimmer, then you need to add something on the skimmer leg.

This picture was made after I put PSK-1000 back for selling, but you can see the hole in the middle of the dock.

Sorry I mis-understood your original post - I thought you need a skimmer for a frag tank and not your main tank.

if you can retrofit the bb3000 that would be great - it's an awesome reliable pump. I used to run bb3000 and now i run bb5000 for the skimmer.
