After smashing a pc bulb on my pico and having to use a desk lamp for a few days I started wondering about some low light corals for the mantis tank. He/she never comes out when the light is on so I would like to switch out some of the corals and trade them for low light corals. Im thinking about a DIY LED array using cheapo LEDS (the $0.10 ones) so you can SEE the corals, and maybe 3-5 hours of "daylight" a day provided with a 10K/14K bulb. I have 4 blue LED's for actinic right now and a few of my zoas open up under the LED's although not all the way.
examples would be yellow polyps, sun corals.....got any more ideas?
Anyone ever done this?
if so please please post up a pic.
alternately if you have sun coral pics post them too.....
