A few weeks ago I bought a file fish from Dennis to get rid of my aptasia problem. He was doing fine and then one day I see him swimming around, look back 2 min later and he's half inside my MP...toast
Fast forward a few weeks to yesterday. I buy a SWEET pair of bonded extreme grade Da Vinci clowns from Dennis and put them in the DT due to not having saltwater made and no pump to make it. They immediately start swimming around and, what seems, enjoying themselves making laps around the tank. I have 3 40 QDs in my tank, 2 on 1 side and 1 on the other. They are set on reef crest at about 60%. The clowns start swimming super close and slow to the suction side and then swimming hard to get away. I put the only 2 foam guards I have on.
Has anyone ever had a fish sucked into a pump or do y'all run foam guards?

Usually weak or dying fish gets sucked in. I have been using MPs since they came out and never had an issue. Every situation is different though.

My clown pair love to sleep beside my MP40’s. I always usethe foam covers to avoid an accident.
You do have to clean the foam pads often, especially if youfeed the fish while the pumps are running.

I forget why cus it was many years ago but I once had a fish go into the turbine... Talk about chop seuy eh And another time I had a fish just get stuck to the intake. The fish was not strong enough to get away. I freed him the one time the second time the fish was not as lucky. I guess my intakes are not that strong which reminds me I have to clean one out cus it is full of debris.

What's bad is if you turn them off for some reason the plug them back in and don't realize a fish decided to take a nap inside one

Kinda' mimicking what John/RR-Man said, but yeah... typically fish only get caught up in there when they are sick, or dying already. I just lost a Bangaii to my WP recently.

Normal stuff there... just gotta add the foam or do a tektite on that badboy. Bummer bro... sorry to hear, though... :(

Instant coral food. :D

I have 2 MP60's and 2 MP40's. Never had an issue except for sick/dying fish.

I've had one get sucked in but also agree that it was probably already sick. He lasted a few days after getting him from Dennis. Was very disappointed.
