I have had flatworms for a couple months now, and they are starting to grow to annoying levels. I don't want to go the chemical route for now, but I know most of the natural predators are hit or miss.

Anyone out there have a wrasse, mandarin, or nudibranch that is a confirmed flatworm-eating machine they could rent me for a couple weeks?

I don't, but I have seen many a mandarin eat flatworms. They are not very expensive.

I was scared to go the chemical route as well, but ended up using Greenex and it worked surprisingly well. None of my corals seem to be affected by it, although my clownfish died a questionable death, but I can't blame it on the greenex because my other fish didn't show any signs of sickness from it. It did however knock out the flatworm population within a day or so. Just make sure to run some carbon and do a water change after you use it.

I'd buy a mandarin before using greenex, IMHO.

They're pretty and do the job quickly... and if you have enough live rock (50+ lbs) they'll find pods o'plenty and stay fat.

I think these are the prettiest fish in the ocean. Oh yeah, they love flatworms!

Mandarins work great, but you have to make sure they have enough food to eat after all the flatworms are gone.

I would love to have a mandarin, and I think I have enough pods to sustain one long term. I've just read they are hit or miss for flatworms, but I guess I'll give it a try, since I want one anyway.

Now I've got to figure out how to sustain one for 4 weeks in QT. I guess I could just harvest pods from my refugium and throw them in the QT tank. Might be a good time to try and get it to eat other stuff as well.

Try hatching Brine Shrimp for the Madrain in Qt or you can always set up a ten gallon tank with an airstone and for pods. Just fill it up with water and add enough live phyto to tint it green.
