Just curious if anyone is keeping them and any advice on them. I've never had anything besides asternia :)

I'm wanting a looking for a little diversity in the tank. Maybe advice on urchins too would be good.

Thanks,
Josh

I have a longspine urchin and two sandsifter stars. I had a tuxedo urchin but got rid of him after he moved all my frags around.

Had a tuxedo urchin, he was cool but it got annoying after a while. He would pick up anything loose in the tank and carry it around. I have sand sifters in each tank with no problems and a "as yet to be determined what kind it is" orange starfish that came as a hitch hiker on a piece of LR.

Hi, tvu.
Brittle stars should be no problem. You might want to stay away from green serpent stars, they can catch and eat fish when they get large.

good luck,
Steve

Everyone should keep tuxedo urchins instead of snails and crabs in my opinion. I wish the industry would push their use more than snails and crabs. They are much more efficient and well survived.

I bought both a red and blue linkia starfish about two years ago. The red died within 6 months and the blue is still alive today. No idea what he eats other than maybe rotting food.

Darn! My queen angel is terrorizing my 2 fromia stars.

Then came home today to see the other smaller star have pieces missing from all 5 legs [emoji22]

My emperor did the same to my blue linkia after years of being together. I haven't seen the blue linkia in the last two months... [emoji22]

That sucks bro. I would love a blue linkia but thought I'd try something not as hard to keep alive. Mine were fine for about a week. Maybe they'll grow back the tips of their legs and be left alone...wishful thinking I guess

Yeah, had that blue for 2 years... Then I think he became an emperor angel snack is my guess.

If he didn't kill them, I bet the tips will grow back.

Found Patrick and was able to get him out and placed into my other tank. He's barely a nub but may grow back

The only starfish I really like is the sand sifting starfish...but it's dull no color and usually hidden in the sand.

Cool! I haven't seen the naka name pop up for awhile.

The same one that had gotten eaten to a nub didn't survive but ironically the 2nd one I put in the same time is doing fine and being left alone. The only difference is that it's a darker red color [emoji16]
