I need to buy a few feet and some fittings (for return line into tank) and really dont want to wait a week for shipping.

I checked grainger and they would have to order as well and need a company name.

So if anyone know of any company locally please chime in and let me know. Thanks

do you need 1/2" or 3/4"?

I ran 1" pvc so no matter what I need to do an adapter from 1" to either size.

GAW, it is usually not advisible to use 1/2" or 3/4" loc-line for a pump with a 1" exit. Does reducing the pipe diameter not create problems?

First I have hear of that thanks, but why does it create a problem?

Man I hope not because I will have to figure out something else since I dont want to re-plumb to 3/4"

This my first time using a sump/returns/over flows

We should probably wait for someone more knowledgeable to comment.

I have read, and it makes sense to me, that this creates back-pressure on the pump. That is to say, the pump was designed to pump out a 1" exit but now it has to pump out of a straw (just a small exaggeration :)).

However, I have also read that this doesn't matter because magnetic magdrive pumps will just move slower and there is no mechanical piece that is having pressure applied to it.

I hear about people using ball valves to control the flow of their tank all the time. I mean I have adjustable powerheads and the way they adjust is basically with a valve. I dont see any reason why dropping down to 3/4 would be a problem at all.

besides the eheim 1262 has a 3/4 outlet anyway. so your not really downsizing, instead your just returning back to the size you started with.

I would not worry about.....you will just have more output pressure, if the locline is not threaded in to a tight fit it might push it out of the bulk head at worse.

it's ok to reduce the outlet.. but you will get less flow than designed due to the back pressure. You can also split the 1" PVC discharge piping into two 3/4" or three 1/2" oulets (with locline) then you still have similar area as the 1" pipe, so no back pressure.
i have quite a few spare locline from the closeloop that i dissembled a few years ago... let me know if you are interested.

It shouldn't matter, he is right, what do you think the 4 or 5 feet straight up over the side of your tank is, head pressure. Reducing does hamper stuff in most situations but running 1 inch plumbing with a 2 x 3/4 inch ouputs isn't going to do anything. Oh I have some locline that I'm not using either if you are interested. pm me.

thanks this was my intended plan was to come off the 1" with a T locline and aim one near the surface and one down the center
