I'm thinking about running GFO in my canister filters instead of investing in a media reactor. I have a Fluval 305 and 405. Figured I would start by putting the GFO at the bottom in a large media bag making sure it has room to move around. Flow should be ok. Anyone have suggestions?

I would invest in a few reactors. One for GFO and Carbon. You need to be able to see the media tumbling to avoid grinding it up. You need a very minimal tumble. Just enough to move the media. Reactors are more efficient too.

You can just T off ur return line and eliminate noisy feed pumps. The cost for just reactors isn't too bad when you exclude buying feed pumps.

Good luck.

^^^ar'right young buck.

You are a sucker for a buying a reactor. No tumbling required...lots of SPS lovers use it in the sump passively (using filter bag/canister filter okay as long as you clean filter on time). :google:
