Talk to the apartment manager. Your probably not the first to ask such a thing. In general, I think a wall towards the middle of the place is usually the strongest, but do ask. I bet they have an answer!

I had a 72 gallon with sump in my apartment. I had it near a corner area since that seemed to be the best place in the apartment.

lol... that would not be cool... number 2 and then you get number 2ed on... from upstairs... not cool. I am on the first floor but they told me it was ok on the second whatever that means.

Keep in mind that if you have a major leak the apartment company may look to you for damages. There was a thread a few months ago that discussed this happening. I dont' know if there is any insurance you can get for that. I don't think normal flood insurance would. But you are on the second story anyways so I don't know why you would get flood insurance.

I'd check your contract about damages not only to your own apartment but also on the water doing to the first floor. You could also check your renters policy to see if they would cover anything, if needed.

I had several leaks and overflows in my apartment. I am not too worried about it now, obviously, but just dont get a stand that doesn't allow for even weight distribution.
