I have to apologize to the group; especially Sherri since this will make more work for her, but I'm going to need to unvolunteer for the frag swap in February.
My wife has been a little uneasy about putting the address up on the internet and having stragers over - mostly because I work shift work and am on nights about half the time with her and the kids home alone. Despite having a monitored alarm system, she still get's nervous. Well, of course, I told her things would be fine and not to worry about it. I know you are all a good group of people.
Anyway, tonight, while I'm stuck here at work, my tank has overflowed on the living room floor - about 10 gal. My wife called panicking thinking the tank had ruptured. What happened was the overflow tube had algae growing in it and apparently had enough flow restriction that the pump outpaced the overflow. (I learned a tough lesson)
Now I'm trying to arrange for a carpet cleaner to come out tomorrow and sterilize the carpet. Once the pump was unplugged and the initial panic subsided, the first thing she asked was, "can you please cancel that 'fish thing' next month?" I'm not really in a position to say no. This is just one of those times where it won't pay to argue. She's not into the hobby so it's an uphill battle on some of this stuff - she's actually been pretty understanding considering how much time and money I've put into my tank this past year getting it started. Those of you couples who are in the hobby together, consider yourselves very lucky! It's tough to ask your spouse to get the wet/dry vac out to clean up your mess while you are gone.
Again I apologize and hope you all understand. I'll try to figure out a way to make up for this somehow in the future.
Thanks,
Sean
