So I had a client that recently closed on a house and he put in ceramic hardwood flooring, mainly because he wanted the hardwood look with the durability of ceramic. He has large dogs running around and he didn't want the wood all scratched up.

Has anyone seen this type of flooring before and knows how it withstands the heavy weight of a large fish tank? I think this would be a great option for fish rooms.

Man, that looks good for ceramic! I plan to place my stand on foam directly on the slab then floor around it so weight wouldn't be an issue for me, but water resistance would and this would probably be perfect. Do you know where one finds this product? I haven't seen it in the flooring stores I visited.

Doubletapp has porcelain tile that looks like wood in his house...looks really good. I THINK they got it from floor and decor.

Any Tile store has this in the showroom or can order it for you.
Make sure it's Porcelain and not Ceramic.
Porcelain is stronger and hold up better with salt and chemical spills.
Also if you use grout use epoxy grout, no maintenance at all.
Contact Katy tile & marble (2816470022) the did all my tile/granite in the house and do all the tile, marble and granite for the outdoor kitchens I built.
Tell them you got it from Ben, Tomorrows Design.
Or just take a look at their showroom on the Katy freeway and Mason.

I wish i would have known about that stuff when we were picking the finishings for our house that is being built... I would have gone with that instead of plain tile

I just looked at some PVC tile yesterday. I was pretty impressed with how good it looked and from what I understand it's pretty impervious to water damage.

How do you like stained concrete. Other than the echo, I love my wood. Hehe, I said I love my wood.

We would have gone with polished and stained concrete but it turned out that our slab wasn't a good candidate for it.

I love my stained concrete.....I could literally just dump buckets of water on it an mop it up without much concern, and it looks just as good as the day that I did it. No dirt in the grout lines is a major plus! Spills.....not a problem! I could go on and on!!!

I have stained concrete in the room my tank is in and it is great. The ATO line got pulled out of the sump by the cat one day and when it kicked on the ATO pumped all 25gallons onto the floor. The only issues it caused was where it ran under baseboards.

And thats why I laid quarter round. I used one bead of silicone on the back of every single piece. I rain a bead of caulk on the top and bottom and then I painted it with latex paint. There is no way in hell the water is getting through the baseboards unless it gets above them and soaks into the sheet rock that way. As you can tell I have learned from my mistakes. Also Anyone who is considering wood floors "DONT DO IT" I can show you pictures of what water has done to mine, and it doesnt take much. Floating is the worst and it destroys floating floors faster, even the floor that i have glued to the slab still has noticeable damage, but its nowhere near as bad as the floated floor.

They make this additive to grout called Grout Once. I believe that its a polyethyline based product. You use it instead of water. It never fades or stains and it is completely sealed when your done. Stained concrete does work great though and looks pretty damn good. I am about to pull up the carpet in the master and do stained concrete since I dont have any ambitions of laying tile anytime soon.
