Anyone know where to find one, and/or a replacement that will work with this skimmer. It was working like a champ. Turned it off after I installed a felt filter sock which promptly drove it nuts. Turned it on this morning and all i heard was a buzzzzzz and then smelled the old electronics frying smell. Turned it off, took it out of sump. Tried to pull it apart to see if there was something stuck in the impeller. Nothing. Turned it on again outside of sump and i heard a popping sound and then smoke. Poof...she be gone.

Like i said, this thing had been working fine...like a champ pulling all kinda crud. And its huge so i dont really want to get rid of it. But it is old and i cannot seem to find the pump that is on it currently. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The sale sheets for that skimmer say that the needle wheel pump is rated at 1630 gph, but I suspect that's pretty optimistic. that puts it in the same range as a mag18 needle wheel, which is a big honking pump. It may well be though. I would suggest that you try to find a needle wheel pump that is rated at about the same wattage as the original one, or that is about the same size, physically. That is probably more reliable than going by the advertised rates.

I got a generic needle wheel off of Feebay for my ghetto rig $10 skimmer and ended up having to fab up an intake gate for it, because it was blowing water out the neck even with the control tube wide open. Restricting the water intake increased the air flow and after a little adjusting, it's pulling out the poop again. Biggest trick is getting the plumbing attached without having a foot of adapters between the pump and skimmer.
