Yep, it's a jellyfish. One of the phases of hydroids is the free-swimming jelly. You can see how they progress if you take a trip to the local aquarium, some aquariums hatch them in educational exibits. I know they do at Scripps and Monterrey.

I'm sure it's harmless and will be chopped to smithereens in your pumps.

well they are in the grow out tank for my caluerpa. I have tons in there. I havent added anything new to that tank in 4 months! Wonder how big they will get. I use a air stone only in this tank.

keep us updated leaffish! Very cool to have a tank with no pumps or skimmers to mutilate all the little things that grow in the tanks.

I let the water evaporate then when i do my water changes i add the old water to this tank. This is truely a nasty little tank but the life forms are great. IT started off as an expeirment.

If you're letting water evaporate and then adding old saltwater, eventually your salinity is going to get out of control.....remember...salt doesn't evaporate.

I know. to be clear this is exactly what i do. top off with FW until the week i do my water changes then i add old saltwater.. Sorry if i confused any one. i do like to keep the salinity a little high.
