I just got back from Tropical Fish Depot and the eggs are all gone. It is about 5:15PM.

Could they have hatched during daylight hours?

Are you sure they were still there this morning? Usually they hatch in the dark.

Yes, they were there. I was watching them as I posted earlier. I saw them before I left for Fish Depot also.

Strange. If your eggs are hatching in the daytime, you may need to steal the rock with eggs in the morning. This is unusual, though, but it's possible yours were just ready to hatch, and so did. If you cannot take the rock out, you'll have to stand by to catch them with a bowl, but it's likely that the parents or other fish in the tank will get them all before you do.

Another explanation is that the eggs became non-viable and died, therefore falling off the rock. If the eggs turn white, they've died. If they stay silver with the silver eyes, they're still good. Healthy eggs can withstand a lot of water pressure against them. If they fall off with the blow of a turkey baster, they're bad.

The only other reason I can think of is that the male decided to eat them. Make sure your parent clowns are well fed with a good variety of different foods.

He might have eatened them. They are always hungry and coming up to be fed it seems.

They were all silvery right before I left and the male was fanning them. Maybe he is like Homer Simpson. He fanned a few, ate some and said "crap!", fanned a few more, ate some more and said "crap!", fanned a few more and so on.

Right now I am reading up on raising rotifiers. Then I will read up on making phyto to feed the rotifiers.

Well, my clowns laid another batch. It has been 3 days since the last batch.

I guess I should get on the ball to learn about raising them.

Naturally they hatched last night while I was working at the FD.

Haven't had a chance to set things up though.

Hey Mark,
Can I try to raise a batch of your eggs. I am waiting on my pair to start laying, but am set up to try this. Would love to get started.
