I don't remember when i got this or who i got it from, but i've had it for a while now and cant say i ever noticed the huge crack through the side and whole at the bottom. Short story, i came home to find one of the heads missing and the 2nd head basically falling through the crack. i just did a water test and my parameters are pretty decent. Upon close examination, the head was definitely cut a little shorter than i would have done it but the coral has overall looked pretty healthy.

440 ca
1500 mg
8 dkh alk
8.2 ph
1.025 sal
~10-15 nitrate
.025 phosphate

Fish list
flame angel
2 fairy wrasses
leopard wrasse
3 clowns
royal gramma
cleaner shrimp
fire shrimp
pistol shrimp
emerald crab
various snails/hermits

However i'm trying to understand if i just screwed up and didn't see the crack when i bought it or could something in my tank have caused that split? It was close-ish to another frogspawn, but i not in my wildest dream would i think it would cause that to happen.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Anyone got any blue/green frogspawn i can pick up the sunday after xmas if this wasn't something i caused?

cutting a euphyllia too close opens the chance for infection in my opinion. That tissue extends deeper into the skeleton that what is visible and I think it can get damaged when cut too close to the head. That's probably what happened here. I won't even frag a euphyllia unless it has two inches of stem on it.

Bottom line, I don't think it was anyone's fault. Sometimes frags just don't make it.
