I am wanting to upgrade from T5 to LEDs, but don't really want to spend a fortune. I was looking at the reef breeder LEDs. They seem pretty good for the price. Has anyone had a good experience with the Apollo lights from china? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

I just purchased a SnakeEyes Quad 72" 3W Timer Aquarium Light Fixture by Odyssea off of ebay. It looks like the typical Odyssea housing with a little better optics. The fixture came in scratched but works fine. The cooling fans are very loud and I will be replacing them. The ballasts and fixture housing stay really cool. One of these days I need to upgrade my membership and use the PAR meter to see if it actually puts out the light it says it does. It is over a new build that is only half full of water so there is no coral under it yet. Time will tell. I paid $280.00 tax and shipping included. I am going to buy the $20.00 timer/controller as well. For a 72" fixture, $300 is really cheep. The downside it it is not dimmable.

I switched from a T-5 fixture to the AquaSTAR 165W LEDs that I ordered from Ebay back in Feb of this year and have been very satisfied. I keep softies, LPS and a few SPS and they are all growing. This pic of the tank was taken after the lights had been on for about 10 minutes.

I've been using oceanrevive t247 for several months now. Great colors and fairly quiet.

I got my 12000 k led from Alli Baba it came from China at a good price. I accidently spilled some salt water on it. The blue led's shorted out on a seperate plug from white led's. Can I just use the white led's as my principal lighting source. I have clams and bubbles and a carpet and a brown stuff growing on a flat piece of live rock 3 inches by 5 inches about. I am using 2 new 1200 k t5 4 foot lights as well now to suplament the lighting. Is the 2 t5's necessary? I have a trumpet coral and while my white led's are on it looks ok when the t5's go on as well the trumpet coral shrivels up. What are your thoughts.

I have always ran t5s but decided to go with a reef breeder on new tank. I like the options it has but have only had them 2 weeks to really know.
