Looking to get back into the hobby and the major thing that I see that has changed in 4 years is the LED lighting. I know the major players are AI, Radion, but I am wanting to see these in person to see if I want to go this rout or should go back to MH/T5 combo. What store do you guys feel has the best display of these lights locally?

Thanks!!

All About Fish (not a sponsor) has the GHL Mitras lights on a display, and some older AI's on other tanks.

I just left FJW and pretty much every tank had the Radions on them. I am a novice so don't know if what I was seeing was good or bad. They looked like "daylight" to me. Is that the desired affect of LED lighting or lighting in general? I know we want them to grow corals but does the outward appearance have any affect on coral growth or is it some unseen spectrum?

Dennis will show you all the capabilities or storm demo. Just ask him. You can control individual colors determining the spectrum of light. I think people have different reasons. Some like it cause it produces less heat then lets say letal halides you dont change bulbs frequently along with control over what spectrum of light you use for your corals. It just boils down to preference. You can have great results but if your serious about growth on particular corals I think that can sway them whether to use LEDs or not. But I definitely am not a pro so maybe Ben or Dennis or someone can chime in with a thorough answer.

Thanks everyone especially NAM0821. We took at trip down there today and it was a great experience. The lights we awesome and Dennis taking time talking to us and explaining the technology and what it could do was absolutely appreciated by my wife and I. He has definitely gained a customer in the near future!

I will be checking out T&T as well.

See I have had the MH/T5 before but having going through bulbs twice a year got old. I was impressed that it(LED) has the shimmer and all the control for so many different options. Thanks!

I've never used bulbs but I love the LEDs. I think they are great.
