Well I'm hard headed and have to learn the hard way. Webster keeps telling me to quarantine my fish and I didn't listen. Several weeks ago I bought a yellow and purple tang. Both looked great. Well after a few days I noticed just a few spots on the purple. It was just a few spots here and there for several weeks then it exploded with spots. I tried the probio ich and velvet stuff but that definitely did not work. So far I have lost purple tang yellow tang grade A da Vinci clown two blue eyed antheas a cleaner wrasse and a diamond goby. I set up a hospital tank and I tried to save a few of them with copper but two of the ones I fought have since died. Rough week and hard lesson learned

White spots. I believe it to be ich. That being said, I feel like everything went to the crapper when I started dosing the inch and velvet stuff.

Yeah QT is the best practice. The fish looks great at LFS because they use so much copper so parasites have no chance to survive externally but they thrive inside the fish and as soon as we put the fish in our tanks (natural sea water) the parasites reappear on the outside of the fish.

Ok that's good. So u know Angels will not take cooper so u have to watch the dosage and check it. Get a Cooper test kit. U want to know what ur cooper is at. At all times. Qt fish for 2-4 weeks in the qt. If any illness a rises add more time until it gets better. Also run hypo salinity in it. Once the fish is better than take a week for it to recover feed it with garlic and selcon. Then drip acclimate it to ur display. I'm guess ur salinity in ur display is 1.025. And keep a close eye on the other fish in the dt. The goby should be fine and the wrasse but still keep an eye out.

So is it not necessary to get all of the fish out of the tank for a period of time to completely rid the dt of ich?

Depends on the type of copper used. I've used coppersafe on 9 fish including a queen angel, Imperator angel, melanrus wrasse and several tangs.

I've never tried cupramine but have read coppersafe may be gentler. Ive had lots of success thru copper and prazipro afterwards.

Well you can but u will never get rid of Ich in the dt. As long as the other fish have no signs of it u should be good. But I'm not really qualified to answer that. PSXerholic or clownfish chris should know!

Okay, I have to know where your information is coming from. While the goby may be fine, it likely will not be. Also, large QTs are not necessary for every fish. Some actually do better in smaller tanks if water quality is kept up. Also, to rid the tank, it must remain fishless for 72 days. Some now say 75. Please look into Tank Transfer method. Although copper has proven to be effective it is also extremely difficult to maintain proper dosage. Lynn is following the right track.

So with that said I have one fish in my QT and 3 in my Dt. The 3 in my dt have proven themselves difficult to catch with a net. Any suggestions?

You need a fish trap. You can try the simple one that uses a plastic bottle
img_0113-jpg.475531

or get one the these:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Aqua-Cul...ish-Aquatic-Pets-Reptiles-Amphibians/20607984

I used that with a magnet holding it in the tank and a piece of fishing line to pull the door closed. Start feeding them in the trap.

That's a good idea. I really don't want to buy an expensive acrylic trap

Omg I'm really sorry I read back what I put down I'm really sorry I don't know what I was saying. Really sorry. I need to stop replying to these type of therads. lol I feel really stupid right now. Sorry again. I will read my reply a bunch of times before I reply. Chris is my info incorrect? The angels reacting to copper in a bad way came from Antonio from EMF. As I said when I pmed you there is just so much info that you have to pick what to go by. It can work or not. It's all on how your make it work. And TBH I'm actually getting real confused and know I'm thing not to have any fish. It's really stressful. Know if I don't qt and I come on here and every one is like that's why it died. Well at this point I'm going to do what has worked for me. And I will share if I feel is useful but it is what worked for me. And if anyone doesn't agree with it ok. As I said before to much things to learn to know everything and every method. That's all I have to say! Have a good day!

Lucas happy reefing!
