Very good looking tank, you got alot done quick. PH sounds a little low though.
Nice work!

Yeah he does, do you wanna trade? I bought him at B&B and was told that he was reef safe? After having all kinds of issues with my Brain we narrowed it down to the Koran Angel nipping at him, its the only one he bothers. Hoping to get a couple vortechs for christmas, who knows what santa will bring? We have had a few issues like getting the skimmer dialed in right, i plan to add a valve to the air intake to try to fine tune it, and then the other day the inlet side to the chiller cracked and all hell broke loose. The chiller is outside and the sump had pretty much run dry causing the return side of my pipework to violently vibrate shaking it all loose all while i was headed to the airport for an international flight. I managed to reseal all the pipework and detour around the chiller long enough to keep everything running. So far the big tank hasn't been too bad i did about a 100 gallon water change the other day and everything seems to be coming along pretty well just need more coral and my powerheads then more coral of course.

LOL, ok maybe you have an idea of how to catch him then? lots of room to hide in a 300 gallon tank. Wife was cussing him earlier she said she spent aout an hour yesterday trying to catch him and caught just about every fish except him..... some how he knows LOL

Ok bouncing some ideas, the plan is to get a set of vortech 40's for my set up, but i am also really leaning towards LPS, Acans, brains, scolymia, possible chalices etc. the question here is what type of flow is optimal for an mainly LPS dominated tank? or does it even matter? At the moment my flow is very limited because of cost but i figure if i am going to buy something i want it to be qualiity. I just heard these move some serious water and dont want them to be counter productive.

Next question is I am needing some moon lights and am looking for the best cost effective way of doing this my tank is 6 ft long, i have seen these lights at 12 inches long how many of these do i need to do the job? and no smart ********* answers of 6 LOL

what else? I have a 72" fixture with 3X 250watt MH and 2 VHO tubes with ballasts for all but one of the 250 ballasts is not working if anyone is interested, not sure what this is worth but am always open to trades or cash.

get the vortechs, you won't regret it, you can dial them down if need be, and when feeding you can set it to night mode or something like that, plus they talk to each other, way cool. plus if you get a controller down the road, they can talk to them as well. as for moon lights, they can be helpful but, they are not a must have.

Nice looking tank. I did a sort of retro for my moon lights. Bought two of the Current lunar link units and mounted them to a vertical side of a reflector from a flourescent hood, angled the vertical side so that the lights were shining directly into the reflector and bounced the light into my tank. The reflector is mounted in my canopy. My tank is a 75g (48") and the Current lights are supposed to be spaced every 24". I spaced them about 12" from each end of the canopy and 24" between the two modules. It illuminates the tank very well at night with just 4 LEDs and I don't have "beams" into the tank. Total cost was about $30.

It sounds like the do it yourself LED's are the way to go I might try to get with you bevoboy when I get ready to do mine just to get an idea, I am hoping to have a little bit of time to work on my tank over christmas and try to do a few more things since it seems to be leveling out and stabilizing a bit.

I have good news and bad news depending on how you look at it. My wife was unable to catch the Koran who has been tearing up my brain, so she moved the Brain to the sump for safe keeping this was about a week ago, Last night she calls me all worried because the Koran died? (at least he was easier to catch) Not sure what happened to him she said he looked white? or had a white glaze to him? she took and had the water tested at the LFS and they said everything was perfect? that maybe he just had a heart attack or something? who knows, My wife was scared to death though because just this past weekend my neighbor lost his whole tank to Ich. but so far so good hoping to be able to get some new corals over the holidays, I think we are set for fish at the moment still not really sure which direction my tank is headed, we will see

sounds like ick to me....tell her to keep an eye on the others, if they have some white spots, or something, ick doesn't show when you check your water.... tell her to check if they look like the fins are being eaten...

so what are you doing with yours? Whats the plan to clean it up? Have you done any water changes yet? when was the last time you did a water change and how much? I'm sorry to hear about all your poor fish but there is a guy on here selling pairs of black and white clowns when you get ready plus i saw a lot of coral for sale lately

the coral is fine, it only attacks fish... and have to wait 2 weeks before getting new fish... but it is in all tanks, and has something to do with stress, so when fish are stressed, they attract it I guess. I just did about 10g friday, and am going to do another 10 next weekend.., where are the b/w clowns? All my water parameters were good... I have heard a lot of people saying garlic should be part of your feeding, that helps a bit.. and I was talking to Felix the other day, and he says he gets it all the time when he gets new fish... just its under control. So from what angelique says about yours.. who knows, did she get some pictures?

No I know it only attacks fish but from what I have read when you find it you should quarentine the sick fish if possible and then do a major water change, there are also some meds you can run but i am not too familiar with them since it hasn't been an issue yet, I guess i have just been lucky, Knock on wood. I am not sure if she took the fish to the LFS or not I don't know what my fish would have to be stressed about there are 7 small fish in roughly 340 gallons, if thats crowded, then i need new fish anyway because i plan to put a few more in before i am through. How many and what types where in your tank? do you think that they may have been crowded causing them to stress? or one was aggressive to the rest?

I don't have another tank... damn, I could have put them at my neighbors..... I used some medication... but it didn't work. Stress is not only from a crowded tank, it can be from a bunch of things. I am surprised they didn't all dye when you changed tanks, and your tank didn't finish cycling... no one was aggressive... and the others I had bought and dyed may have been the same thing. What I think is I didn't do enough water changes, but my parameter were good anyway, but I guess that doesn't mean you dont have to do the changes. From know on I will use garlic supplement. and make sure they get good water changes. you should think of making your own food, and throw in some garlic in there. Also, has Angelique done some water changes? That is my best guess. PS. say hi to the dolls.

I have that one cracked tank in the garage you could have used a little silicone and it would be as good as new. No the tank is ok for now between the 100 gallons i changed the week before i left and the other 30 or so i lost and replaced the day that i left, it is fine. I don't really have a bio load plus i have the skimmer and probably at least 600 lbs of rock I think it is pretty good for now, I plan to do a bunch of stuff when i get home.
