So im breeding clownfish and have all the basics down. First batch of 90 transferred into fry tank had 5 alive the next morning. Second batch i had about 200 transfered over and 8 alive in the morning. There is something im not doing or doing wrong to kill almost the whole hatch and has me puzzled. Fry tank conditions are as follows.
5 gal tank with parent tank water at 82 degrees
Bubbler making about 2 bubbles a second
Heater light indicator covered with electrical tape
All 4 sides blacked out and bottom painted white
2 quarts sieved rotifers added
2 watt led lamp lighting tank with paper towels to diffuse the light
Zero nitrates/ammonia
The last thing that i do after i gently scoop them out and place them in fry tank is add rotifer feed to the tank to help the rotifers stay alive a little longer and be more nutritious to the fry. What im thinking is im adding too much rotifer feed to the tank... 2 ml. It tints the water a green color but could it be choking them out? Before i tint the water i can see the fry swimming and doing good but after its greened i cant really see them all that well and cover with paper towels. I check on them in the morning.
Any ideas or advice to help my success rate? Thanks!
