I was going to make a breeding journal entry but considering I'm breeding many many pairs of clownfish I just wouldn't be able to keep it up to date. Instead I'll use this thread to post periodic updates of whats going on in my fish room.
I have had all my clown breeding pairs running cold at around 76-78* to keep them from spawning as I build out my new fishroom and haven't been feeding heavily. My rotifer and phyto culture systems are not running at this time.
DaVinci - DAV-MIX-0001 - Despite my best efforts to pause breeding the DaVinci pair I bought from Farmacy a month ago has decided they wanted to drop a clutch. They didn't have the protein needed in their diet for this to work out favorably but they have about 30 eggs still hanging in there. They dropped 100+ in the initial spawn but culled most of them. The male isn't super attentive right now and the female is trying to keep him in place.
Snowflake/Darwin - EXP-MIX-0001 - These two are ready to start breeding and have been cleaning their clay pot every few weeks. I believe they are spawning but due to the limited diet at the moment they are eating the clutches over night. Going to attempt to watch them a little more closely next time I see them, but I am actually fine with this behavior right now just hope they realize when they are on a regular breeding diet they will stop.
All other pairs are either paused at the moment or are just starting to mature. I have several others in a mixed grow out right now and hoping some of them start to pair off and I'll move them to their own tanks.
