I was transferring water today in a 5 gallon bucket and had the handle break on me. Thankfully the bucket landed upright and did not land on my toe but water did go everywhere! If you have an (Oceanic salt) bucket with a plastic handle make sure it doesn't have any stress marks or cracks in the handle.

I do water changes using buckets, so I should be checking those handles. Thanks for the warning.

Best thing I ever did was spent $50 for a 100 ft of 1/2" ID tubing, 2 plastic clamps and a cheap pump. I use the pump to pump the water out of the tank into the sink using the tubing and the clamp to clamp down the hose onto the sink. Then I pump the water from my water mix drum into the tank. Much much easier than carrying buckets. I usually change about 30 gallons of the water each time and that means 6 of those buckets each way so that's 12 buckets total I would have to carry. The best $50 I ever spent!

What do they add to dog food?

I'm disappointed this post put "there's a hole in the bucket dear Liza" into my head, only to find the handle had broken lol

Same here. I made a PVC "wand" I just hook it on the rim of my tank and run the hose out the back door. It siphons the water out of the tank and out into the back yard. I then screw the end of the hose on my pump and refill the tank. I change 65 gal. a week in about 10 minutes.

Here's a pic of it. Sorry kind of small....

Ya looks like a great idea. I have used home made versions of that in years past. I once had a set up using my syphon and attached it to an old garden hose and straight to my plumbing. Sounds a bit silly but it worked
