OK, I've dosed my tank with garlic and chemi-clean during the last week. I just did a water change. Everything looks fine. The fish seem happy, including the new Blue Tang.

The only problem is I have a HOB SeaClone skimmer (150 I think) and it's going nuts. Millions of microbubbles spewing into the tank. I know that this skimmer doesn't get the best reviews, but I've always had good luck with it. It did this for about 6 hours when I first got it. But now I'm afraid that all of these bubbles are going to stress everybody out. So I did a water change and changed the carbon filter cartridges. My question would be how long can the tank be without the skimmer? And how bad are all of these bubbles for the fish and coral?

Help!

It sounds like you have the air up to hight. Have you tryed turning the air completly off and slowly turning it back on till you get it set where the bubbles are not going in your tank?

If you have the powder blue or the regal tang they will hate the bubbles. Mine did.

My skimmer puts out microbubbles after I feed the tank. It should pass after a few hours or maybe longer since you dosed the whole tank.

micro bubbles will not harm anything. Many of the fish and corals we have in our tanks live in surge areas where waves make bubbles. This is a part of natural reefs. Most people don't like the bubbles because they don't like the way it looks in the tank. Give it time and as the chemicals are pickup and removed from the tank by the skimmer the bubbles should start to disappear.

Well, it's much better this morning. But there are still some left. I'm guessing that things should be back to normal by this evening.

Actually the instructions on the chemi-clean tell you to turn off the skimmer while dosing if I remember correctly.

I left it off for the first 48 hours. Not sure if I should have left it off for longer.

chemiclean should work within the first 24 hours. If it doesn't you are supposed to dose again....I think. Then do water changes.

That's it.

I think that tiny little bottle treats 300gals.
