Bought it once Jason in bulk it was a pain especially compacting the stuff really good in order to be effective. I replace DI cartridge twice a year so for me it was not worth the hassle.

How do you keep the resin in the package after you open it? Meaning if I were to refill 2 canisters and had 2 canisters worth left in the bag what do you do with it at that point? Put a chip clip on it? HA!?

This thread sparked my interest in making my RODI system more efficient. I concluded I need a booster pump. :/

Most definitely especially if you have a larger tank. With the booster pump my PSI is @100

My current psi is more like 42. After I added 2 more stages to my 4stage 100gpd unit I actually think production went down! Even though I have 2 DI resin filters I am exhausting the first very fast. I just replaced the membrane a couple months ago and haven't made that much water since. I am filling a new tank so I am making a lot of water I just remember performance to be a bit quicker when it was just a 4 stage. Thus maybe a booster will help the membrane out.

^^^yes your PSI is below normal. At around 60 is normal.

Same thing happened to me. I added an additional canister pre-filter (sediment) and my PSI dropped drastically. Soon I'm rebuilding my RO/DI set up so I will definitely talk to experts like our sponsor buckeyes.

I buy bulk all the time. Never really had an issue. Just make sure you add like 1/4 to the canister, tap it on the table a few times to pack it down, add more, pack, etc. When the canister is about 80% full I use a 1 1/2" PVC pipe with flat cap to pack it in better. Add the rest and you are good.

Mark great idea. I have always just added a little then tap tap tap. Add a little more ect. Using the PVC seems like an awesome addition! Thanks

You're welcome. Also make sure you add enough resin that it seems like the cap with the sponge is barely going to fit and screw on. That helps pack that last 20% in nice and tight.

Why does it need to be packed so tight?

Great ideal with the PVC!! I use a beer bottle to pack mine. The key is to pack the resin as water will take the path of least resistance(plus it gives you long contact). The bulk bag from BRS is a resealable bag. The DI Resin does not seem to go bad. I run two DI canisters on my system (color changing). When the first runs out I switch the second canister to the first. In addition I run a dual TDS meter. One prob is right after the RO membrane so I can see what the TDS reads and gives me an ideal of when to replace the membrane. The second probe is on the line coming out of the DI canister so that I can insure that I am putting out zero TDS.
