Besides, tank, stand, lights (with ballast), what else is needed to set up a tank.

Ok,

Sump,
pump to drive water out of sump into tank,
skimmer,
LR and LS,
RO/DI and salt,
heater, thermometer,
refractometer.

We have looked long and hard at the finances, and where retirement and schooling, thinking we need to go smaller, and eventual a second tank, or small nanos.

So what kind of testing kits that I need?
What all kind come in electronics form?

Am I missing anything that is essential from my list, I don't own anything yet.

You left out lighting. And in Texas I don't think you'll need a heater.

Yeah, I didn't think I would need a heater, but nice to have one right?
