So I finally got my GEO618 cal reactor running. I hooked up the pH control monitor. I went to set up my CO2 bottle - check. So I bought a Tunze 7077/03 Co2 regulator thinking that was all I needed. nope. so I bought a Reef Fanatic CO2 Regulator Solenoid Valve. so I go to connect the things today and noticed that there is not a simple way to integrate the two together. so an idea was confirmed on line to run a hose from the regulator to the solenoid and then the other to the reactor. did that.

Regulator:

Tunze CO2 Regulator, 7077/3 - AquaCave.com

Solenoid Valve

Reef Fanatic CO2 Regulator Solenoid Valve

So, I made sure that everything was closed and I opened the CO2 cylinder which ended up making this popping sound (like a impact wrench tightening or a machine gun). so of course I closed the valve. then I tried opening the needle valve and then the main valve which is supposed to allow the gas to flow. well I noticed that the gauge for pressure emitting was up and if I tuned the needle valve I was able to stop the popping. the secondary gauge to give me gas pressure in the tank....not registering at all.

so I was watching some of the gas emitted to the reactor and the bubble counter was going a little nuts. mental note.....not a good thing. those reactors seal great because a hose popped from the ehiem circulation pump and you guessed it...water all over the place.

so as of now everything has been unplugged from the co2 side and only the water going to the reactor is active.

so.......HELP.

(1) can the regulator and solenoid valve work with each other as I connected it is was that a no-no. if its a no-no then please suggest one that should/could. I was looking at the following:

Reef Fanatic Deluxe CO2 Regulator W/ Solenoid

(2) I read somewhere that there is a sequence of opening up valves? I have been reading and cant find it.

(3) did I mention...HELP.

Did u get it running. Diesel, he had the regulator main valve wide open. I think it was the blow off valve making the popping.
