its a 1/4 hp from jbj. I came home one day and the digital front and the chiller wasnt working. It may be the fuse. I will check later tonight to see whats the deal.

Would you be willing to look at mine also? I have a 1/2 hp chiller that will turn on, but then shuts off after about 10 min. I believe its hitting the thermal protector because its low on freon, but I dont have gauges or a way to fill it with the proper freon. The water coming out never feels like its being chilled.

Thanks
Trevor

I'm not sure mine is running efficiently or not but I have a Pacific Coast Imports 1/4 hp and everytime it kicks on, it runs for 15-20 minutes. Is this typical for a chiller to run that long? If not, what should I check for?

Btw it's a 120 gallon

bolo - depends on a lot of things. Ambient temp in room where chiller is, set points (how much are you dropping the temp each time it kicks on? how often is it coming on?), flow through chiller (too slow or too fast of flow can mean the chiller needs to stay on longer to reach your set point), etc, etc.

Basically, w/o knowing a lot more things it's hard to say whether your chiller needs fixing.

For reference, I have a 140 gal with a 1/4 horsepower chiller (Arctica) that stays on for 30 minutes when it comes on to drop my temp.
