Hey all,

I love we have a new forum for Propagation, although we might want to rename it Propagation and Breeding Forum?

Anyway, I am constantly on the lookout for invertebrates that will reproduce readily in our systems. I would like to research as many of them as possible to increase the base of knowledge on snails, worms, slugs, starfish, etc.

I will post in this thread again soon with a more detailed description of what I'm trying to do, but I do want to mention that I'm currently looking for anyone that can supply me with the following:

Stomatella varia (I need at least 6)
Trochus, Turbo or other warm water snails that reproduce easily.

If you have any of these in your tank and can spare a few, I am happy to pay for them.

Hmm be interested in some limpets perhaps?

I can't believe these all are the original ones I started with... roughly 14-16 that I can count, and run from maybe 1/4" up to and inch+ in size.

That is a possibility Ulric, but I do have some limpets I just put in my sump, I'll see if those breed first.

Thanks for the offer!

Hey Brian,

I got Nick to go up there for me today since we couldn't make it yesterday. I think the tanks will be fine until Friday when I go up there.

I will let you know if that changes, but thanks for offer to help.

SWEET!! I would like to get 6-10 snails in a mixture of sizes and colors if possible :) We'll have to see what works out best for scheduling, I probably won't be able to get them from you until March unless you are going to the saltwater change this Saturday at UH.

Hey Brian, I have tons of these if you want any. I am going to give them away free with every order. They are very playful and like to swim with the fish. Sometimes they will even 'ride' the fish around the tank. And they breed really fast! Let me know how many to put you down for :)

Funny...you just gave me the willies! Did you see the hair standing up on my neck from there? Did you NOT read my article?

If I see another one of those in my tank, ever, it will be too soon :D

I'm just teasing of course. As far as I know there are none to be found around here. I used to maintain a tank at a dentist's office many years ago that had Aiptasia. After a seven month battle, I finally got rid of them all. Then the very next month they were everywhere all over again. The dentist's wife liked the 'pretty little hydras' and was upset that they had all disappeared, so to surprize him she bought a piece of live rock that had a bunch on it and added it to the tank. I think I was the one who was more frustrated. I hope you don't have a 'helpful' person like that to add more isopods to your tank. I'm sure every time you see an amphipod it looks like a cirolanid. You must be very paraniod that they will reappear, I know I would be.

Looking for Nerites

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone else in Houston has some of these Nerites?

I got mine from riptide (thanks!) and that they were breeding in his tank. However, he only found 3 and that is not super likely to form a stable breeding population. If anyone else has snails like this in their tanks, please let me know!

Maybe I'll get lucky and riptide will find more, but just thought I would ask other people as well.
