steve is correct, what it will do is snap it's claws and create a sonic sound that will stun the shrimp, then it's dinner time. saw it on discovery

Now that I think about there is an article in next to current Coral Magazine about pistol shrimp actually taking out Stomatopods (Mantis shrimp).

Mine live well together.

I have a skunk cleaner that I have had for more than a year. I also have multiple different types of pistol shrimp (at least two tiger and one that is white w/ red) that have lived in the same 90 gallon system for over a year.

I hear snapping every night, but the cleaner shrimp is still there. :)

Afeter seeing that NG video I was very worried, but I have never had an issue. The pistols HATE hermit crabs though. :)

My pistol shrimp are quite possibly my favorite tank inhabitants. However I suspect that one of them took out my harlequin shrimp. This was a very sad day.

Snapping is loud enough for me to hear it in another room 20 feet away. Sounds like cracking glass. So much so that if my tank ever cracks I will be sitting around like nothing is happening.

I've never actually witnessed a death related to my pistols... not to say that it hasn't happened though.

I never had a choice with the my pistols... all are hitchhikers.

I wouldn't worry about that. My roommates never complain.

It is a conversation starter for sure though!
