I am in the middle of decide to use external pump or use the pump inside the sump. I plan to use the MAG 18 . This pump can be use inside or external. which way do you think will be more quiet? I think the advance of external is more space for the sump. The advance of the inside is no leaking water. I am very appreciate any though. Thanks

internal is definitely quieter, the advantage/disadvantage is that it adds heat to your water.

Becareful using mag pump externally, there is a chance for leak. It's much better to use it submerged.

Ditto, more chances for leaks outside the sump.

Either way the pump is going to generate heat and pass it on to the water... I'd hazard the amount between internal vs external isn't all that great.

IF you were starting from scratch, go full internal.. then just get a larger sump than you would have used externally.

yeah, i've heard it's best to keep mag pumps submerged. you can also try quiet one pumps. they are quiet and use less energy.
