Ok, so who here uses one? If you do, which one do you have, how do you use it, and has it really saved you time/ money over the long run. I am looking at the Apex, because I know it will run my AI Sol LED lighting system....but if you have had good luck with another brand/model, please share. Thanks!

Profilux. It costs a bit more but can do anything. I programmed mine to mow my lawn and do my laundry.

Ok, maybe not, lol. But it is super versatile. It can control regular LEDs and AISol modules.

Super expanability and can control multiple tanks. I even set mine up once to automate my waterchanges!

It's like buying an Elos tank. Sure you can buy an oceanic or marineland but if you have the money the Elos is worth it. Same for controllers, you can buy an Apex or RK but if you've got the money go with the top shelf equipment.

Spam bot. We really need that new forum to kick in soon... it's just getting worse on another board that I administrate... ::roll eyes::

Gotcha, I was wondering.

Back to the regularly scheduled programing...

In keeping with the topic, I have a Neptune Apex and am happy with it. It has ticked me off a couple of times, but for the most part, it's great. :)

By kicked you off, you mean the internet connection to control it??
I was considering not getting the lcd control panel and just use computer and/or iPhone....thoughts?

No one should be without a controller. We spend so much money on digital timers for lights, pumps, and all sort of things; instead one controller can manange all those things and more.

I have a brand new Apex in box and have a RKL for my JBJ nano.

APEX on my 180 gallon main tank and a RKL on the 55 gallon.

Shoot just the ability to turn the pumps off for feeding and they come back on their own after a set time is worth it to me!

He wants the new forum software for Marsh that will hopefully kick off spam bots.

The APEX controller has ticked him off a few times.

oh +1 on the APEX. I also have an ACJr. Would not want to be w/out some type of controller.

Not all the features are available on the web programming (and especially using the phone apps).

The software is pretty good on the web interface but there are features and options that are still only available on the head unit. Also unless you are a little net savvy you might not be able to control where the APEX is on your network without being able to program through the keypad (as an example). I can't speak to the APEX Jr because that was designed to be a web interface only.

Yes, the latest firmware upgrade was a pain in my neck. It was just operator error though... nothing on the boys at Neptune. Their customer service is fantastic, and to "me" that's worth the money shelled out.

All the other "things" it does I take for granted.

Oh, and I wouldn't run one without a display unit because what if the internet is down, or your phone is acting up on you (AquaNotes)? This has happened to me a couple of times and I was glad I had my display unit.

poor me, i have a reefkeeper 1 (old school) but it has 8 sockets unlike the new ones that come with four.however it only came with a temp reader and no options to add anything else. but i will keep it till it dies, it has not failed me yet.

I had a heater with a broken thermostat, so i used the controller to control it and it worked like a charm. i will be using it as a timer on my 225 build, but also thinking of addine apex jr to the mix for other functions.

ReefKeeper Lite here with two PC4's, ph probe and iTemp probe.
Works well and fairly easy to program. I haven't used anything else though so can't compare.

had both rk1 and now apex lite. both are solid, but the additional network features of the apex is what makes it great.

Still plan on using the rk1 since apex is running out of ports. 8 is enough for most, but if u like to mess around, 8 get's sticky.
