I have a 20 gallon I've been using as a qt for the past year. If I take everything out and clean it, is it possible to use it as a tank with a couple clownfish and an anemone or does it have to stay as a qt now forever and ever?

I will replace all media, pumps, filtration, rock etc.

My assumption is the copper soaks into the seals and can leech out later and kill and coral/inverts, but l wanted to make sure.

I've heard it both ways.

Some say it's a myth and others say once you go Copper the tank is doomed to hell. Lol

I would personally try it. If you have any adverse reactions please document it and post up.

I just bought a 75g and a 125g from a guy that ran copper in both. I plan on turning the 75g into a reef. I'm not worried in the least about it. I don't believe silicone is porous enough to absorb copper and hold it.

Silicon should be inert. If you have a dry tank, then you are probably fine. If there is still sand or water in it, clean the thing and throughly rinse it first. Silicon is not porous and non reactive. Set it up and put a couple frags in. I think you will have your answer then. You could also do a copper test.

Fill it with water from your DT when you do a water change, hang a small 60G pump in there or air stone a dose a few drops of Detox in there for 3 or 4 days.
It will not only take all the copper out but also other heavy metals that might be on the glass or corners.
I might still have some Detox for you if you want to come out.

I was wondering if GFO takes copper out. I know it will remove plenty of stuff you dont want in your tank.
