Another thread got me thinking........ I would venture a guess that I am not the only one who has had some close calls in their tank with corals. I thought I would share a couple of mine and see if anyone else had any good saves or cool recoveries!

I have had many close calls, but no pics to show. I had some chili coral get totally covered in hair algea and then loose all its polyps. I scrubbed it with a toothbrush in hopes of removing all the hair algea, no go, then I used the hair algea removal stuff on it, don't even say it, and got rid of all the hair algea just to have a pretty dead looking chili coral. It lost most of its color, and pretty much was a rock in my tank for about 3 months. Then one day I saw one yellow polyp. After that the recovery was rapid and it is back to normal now. I was so close to chunking the whole rock, but decided to keep it cause it was a pretty rock.
Just goes to show how tough coral can be. And it's not over till it's over.

I wished I had a picture of my turquoise Cup.

It was wonderful at the store. So so so pretty in a tank up high.
When I got home and had it low, It had a dead section on it about the size of a dime. I could not believe I did not look better than I did.

Today 2 months later it has completey recovered the dead spot.

We have been fortunate so far that none of our LPS has suffered, now we were told the recovery of the maze that we bought that was dying would recover faster if we did some things, but currently it is recovering, just not as fast as I would have liked, but then it is not a super fast grower.

Same thing with our elephant skin, it is shown great recovery in our new tank.

SPS wise, we have recover or at least keep most things alive and with the same advice as I got for the LPS the SPS should benefit also.
