found this crab today in my tank...i had seen him around a month ago, sticking a claw out of a crevice/hole in a rock, and tried to lure him out, with no avail, so i put hot R/O water in a turkey baister and blasted the hole, and just assumed he was dead...

well today i was putting on my socks looking at my tank (i know haha) and i saw something crawling between the branches of my candy cane, sure enough a huge crab.... i grabbed my 5 gallon pale and put some water in it, (enough to cover up the 9# rock i thought i he was going to take off to once i grabbed the coral) well i picked up the candy cane and he stayed on it, put the coral in the bucket and shook/got him off....and in the bucket he sits...

EDIT: LOL sorry guys, was trying to help my brother with a logo design project and that is what was on my copy...

would like to get an ID on this crab, verifying it is bad, then if someone would like to swing by and pick it up i think it would make a tastey treat...

btw leg to leg with it sitting it is almost 2"

sorry. Without a better pic, closer, and top/bottom...it's difficult to really tell.

The striped legs bring to mind a Sally Lightfoot, but the pic really isn't good enough to tell. Are you familiar with the Sally lightfoot? If not google that and see if it's anything like what you've got there.

If the claws are pointy I'd throw it in the sump. With crabs I've always had the mindset of "Guilty till proven innocent". Especially if you don't know the species.
