I would like to officially gather volunteers for a 2015 Crystal sea Texas rock scaping bbq.[/COLOR]
Please everyone respond to this thread if you think you would like to come on out. I will need to get a head count on attendees to accommodate.��
The event will take place on july18 th Saturday.
Held from 3pm to 7 pm !!
All members and non members who would like to go are welcome to come out and see what Crystal sea Texas has available. Also come out and be welcomed by Marine and reef society of Houston!
The event will be located in the 77004 zip code.

This event will Need volunteers for the following...but not limited to only one person..feel free to bring what you like. (I just need to know in advance)

- Bbq pit..2 portable if possible...***G-reef/ CST***

- Chips..fritos and other type ...***Miller***

- Hamburger patties..***Mark L.***

- Burger fixings...( mustard, ketchup, mayo, lettuce, exc)... ***mwilliams62***

- Chilli..

- Cheese melted style for frito pie....

- Hot dogs ...***Mark L.***

- Hamburger and hot dog buns...***Miller***

- Coolers and drinks....***Greef/CST***

This will be hosted outdoors..
we will need everyone to bring you're own chairs if needed for your own comfort...

Canopies Also needed for shade...

The event is Also BYOB...if you choose to ...this will not be provided!!!

Come out and spend 4 hours with us... Enjoy rock scaping and bbq.. Some of you who have never been to Crystal Sea Texas... Should leave with a new outlook on what they want in there aquarium.

I will update asap with the official time and with All volunteers who will be participating in making this 2015 event a great success.

Just want to add that it doesn't matter if you bring any of the items we are trying to gather. You are still welcome to come out !!
For those who are bringing items I would ask that you can be there on time or before . If you can not ,we can set up a time in advance for me to pick these items up so that they are there when we need them..

Got tables? We have 2 6-foot folding tables, could use more.

For food of course! And also for rock scaping. Maybe both at the same time, maybe not, depending on how many people attend and how many tables we have.

We will offer a crash course in aquascaping, and ask folks to chime in with what works for them. Then, anyone who wants to can dive into 3 or 4 ton of rock to pick out pieces of any type and scape with them. Or stand around and watch. To steal ideas! It's a great way to get used to different types of rock and get a real good feel for what you like and don't like about each. Then, apply your new or improved skeelz to your own tank.

The event is free and open to members and non-members alike (sodas from G-Reef, and Keurig-style sweet tea and lemonade from us will keep you cool!).

I don't say this enough, but this is the only place in Texas (and probably in the country) where you can hand pick each rock for your aquarium from so many varieties. When ordering online, you get whatever is shipped. Really, you know the right piece when you see it. Not when somebody else does.

Maybe not perfect, but I really liked it. It only took 5 minutes.

I like to stagger the shelf pieces inbetween regular Marco rock. I think taking a chisel and hammer to the inbetween pieces goes a long way when ur trying to get the flat shelf rocks to lay right.

Sometimes it will drive you mad trying to achieve the look ur looking for. Impossible to make some rocks do what you want without beating some corners or edges off.

Ive got two extra tables... If anyone wants to bring some for sale equipment ..im sure no one would mine...

Sweet that helps! Yeah folks if you have equipment you want to find homes for, bring it on by. I will throw my little netgear access point in. For free tho, I only paid like $30 for it.

I doubt I'll be able to attend, we'll see if I'm off. I do have some left over shelf rock that's drilled for PVC and has been bleached to remove all organic material. It's been rinse well and dried out if anybody is interested. Just PM me.
