I have a red slimy algae growing on the sand in my refugium. I think it is Cyano, but am not positive. There is none growing in the DT. I was wondering does anyone else have this problem in thier refugiums.

I have a little in my fuge. I want to get it out but keep telling myself as long as it's not in the display, I don't really care. I figure the cyno in the fuge is taking any nutrients away from some growing in the display and I don't want to mess with that balance.
you can always throw a few snails in the fuge and have them clean it up

I've seen this thread before...

My suggestion, any of the red slime "cures" which are anti-biotics.

I have never seen a decrease in the capacity of my tank's biological filtration because of using these anti-biotic treatments. *as would be evidenced by the presence of ammonia

Red slime is a hitch-hiker with a simple cure. I spent hundreds of dollars in the past modifying flow, adding certain livestock and so forth trying to cure red slime. I gave up and used one of the antibiotics and, viola, cure.
