So I started another tank at shop with a big sump full of liverock and started the cycle. Ammonia spiked to 4 and now zero in 4 days, nitrites show zero and nitrates show zero too still after 2 days. Could my nitrites and nitrates have spiked and came down so quick or not enough to measure? The lr was transported fully submerged and has been since I bought it. The skimmer pulled some heavy gunk while ammonia was showing but has since pulled very little gunk out. I have never had a cycle not show nitrites or nitrates and am a little puzzled. Your thoughts? Thanks

Dose ammonia to 2ppm. Test every 12 hrs to see how the cycle is running. If the ammonia and trates are 0 after a few days, you are good to go. It is very possible to have little to no cycle if the live rock you used in the sump is well established. If the rocks have enough anaerobic bacteria then it may be processing nitrates into nitrogen gas.
