my tank is 72gal and has been running for like 2 weeks i belive .
i had alot of brown algae and now it starting to turn green with some purple . Is all this normal? Also tested my water today , ammo .5 nitrite 0 nitrate 10. Do you think my tank cycled already? Also i did water change ( about 25gals of water).
I also have some have some fish in the tank. I have 3 damsel 2 spoted puffers and lion fish someone gave me .
My filtration is sump with sponges and skimmer (which is collecting alot of nasty brown sluge). All this sound normal?

The water change and skimmer is prolonging the cycle which is not done yet.

I feel that replacing water slows down the process as well as the skimmer pulling out the nasty stuff which would feed the nitrogen cycle.

but then again he put fish in before it was safe to do so.

interesting... i guess it makes sense, the organisms would fill the niche provided by the amount of food forthem available by skimming and changing you'd reduce the abundance of food..
