Have you decided what return pump you are going to use?

Yup, starting off with an Eheim 1260. We'll see how that does.
I don't like to push too much water through my sump.

made a little more progress last night.

My custom sump from SA is in.
I was able to plumb the two 1" drain lines, "Herbie" style. One is 100% drain with a standpipe fully submerged under water in the overflow with a gate valve to control flow. The second is a 1" emergency drain in case the first starts to clog. It's a really tight fit between the tank bulkheads and the sump bulkheads so I used a combo of hard pvc and flex pvc.

I also removed my recently acquired BRS dual chamber reactor that runs GFO and Carbon from my old tank and got it installed inside the new stand. Just need to decide on a final resting spot inside the skimmer chamber for the pump that drives it.

Next up... plumbing the return. :cheers2:

Wow that looks fantastic! I like the idea of mounting an "undercabinet" light to help see what's going on in the sump. I need one of those now :) Better yet would be a PC fixture w/ 6500k lamp :)

Same w/ the under-tank canisters for the GFO and carbon great idea.

Cheers
James

Thanks, James.
I actually mentioned in my first post that the light is a fluorescent grow light. I went in to Lowe's just looking for a cheap under cabinet light because I used those hard-wired under cabinet light pucks on my last build and loved having them. But then I found this and thought what the hay. If it's enough light to grow some macro algae it will be a bonus. If not, it still makes a great cabinet light and I can just add a fuge specific light. :)

Ok, me gots me some bulbs!

So here they are installed. I think I did pretty good on the first try. We'll see once I get the tank filled and stocked if I need to make any changes color wise.

Notice the T5 colors. Hard to tell on the last pic but the ATI Blue Pluses are way more blue than the UVL Super Actinics which have more of a pink tint. UVL on the inside slots and the two ATI on the outside slots.

Now that I know the fixture is in full working order, I can attempt disconnecting the wiring to feed the power wires down the dry pipe.

Once my overflow is installed, the tank is ready to get wet!

End cap has to be removed in order to remove the glass so you can access the bulbs.
Just the T5's again in this image.

Plumbing is complete below the stand.
And the lighting ballasts are hung.

Just need to finish the pipes in the overflow.

That is one fantastic looking setup, Dennis. Congrats! Can not wait to see it stocked. What are your plans for livestock?

Well, that leaves out the dartfish (firefish) then.

Aw man, i kinda wanted one of those purple firefish. Oh well.

So I normally don't like digging into expensive electronics, but I didn't really have a choice if I wanted to fit these wires down the dry pipe in my overflow, as the plug ends were too big.

Well.... problem solved! :D

Now let's just hope the pics and notes i took will let me re-wire it correctly...

Are there spacers between the stand and ballast where it is attached inside? I had a ballast screwed directly to the stand on my frag tank and installed some 1/4" spacers between it and the stand and it dropped the operating temp of the ballast a few degrees.
