The full siphon drain has a gate valve above the sump. So that's what you use to adjust the flow to match the return pump. The return is pushing water back up through the returns slower than the tank can drain, so the gate valve is used to close the drain a bit until it evens out. Every so often this valve needs a slight adjustment one way or the other but no big deal. The herbie lets you know. You'll hear a gurgle if the water starts to drop below the siphon drain, and you'll hear trickling water if it starts to flow down the emergency drain. Great system.I just saw the video- your herbie overflow- does the lower drain pipe running at a full siphon perfectly match the flow of the return pump? The herbie overflows I've seen have a lower drain pipe with a flow rate just a little lower than the return pump, and there is a trickle flow on the upper drain, which you referred to as the emergency stand pipe.
... I remember when you started up that 46g bow. :: sigh :: They grow up so fast!
